Château Rieussec has been one of the leading wines in Sauternes for several generations. Ranked as a Premier Grand Cru in 1855, it’s made with a subtle blend of Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc and is aged for around two years before being bottled. In top years the wines are deemed to rival those from the legendary Sauternes producer Château d'Yquem.
The 2016 is brimming with pineapple, dried mango, lemongrass, wildflowers, vanilla, peach, honeycomb and funky botrytis notes of marmalade, shiitake, beeswax and crystallised ginger. Luscious, velvety, and wonderfully sweet, this wine is deeply flavoured with layers of complexity and perfectly balanced fresh acidity. A treat to drink on its own, this wonderful sweet wine would also pair excellent with luxury desserts, cheeseboards and rich pâté.
