Williams Chase En Provence Rosé 2018
Williams Chase En Provence Rosé is all very French Riviera; convertibles, ultramarine seas, rolling lavender fields, bustling street markets and Breton stripes. But this cheeky little pink owes its creation to the humble Herefordshire spud. William Chase began his career as a potato farmer. When a batch of his finest were rejected by a supermarket for not being pretty enough, he sold them to Kettle Chips, who loved them. From this idea Tyrrells was born, then those same potatoes became Chase Vodka. Now William is branching out into biodynamic wine in the South of France, and the results are spectacular.
What’s so lovely about this rosé is how connected everything feels. Although it’s made in the South of France, it really has something reminiscent of the English countryside about it. Particularly, the orchards that surround Chase’s home in Herefordshire, the same ones that get put to good use in the making of their gins. This comes through in the crisp red apple and pear skin finish of this wonderful summery Provence rosé.
