Grand Vin Saint-Estèphe 1982 - Chateau Cos d'Estournel

Chateau Cos d'Estournel

Grand Vin Saint-Estèphe 1982

With over a third of a century under its belt, Château Cos d’Estournel’s stunning 1982 is in the prime of its life. Wine critic Jancis Robinson has compared it to Château Lafite, while Neal Martin has “always loved this Cos d’Estournel”, enthusing that “you cannot help but enjoy” it. But that’s with the proviso you can get your hands on it, because precious little remains.

Hailing from a legendary year that is held in such high esteem for its concentration, Cos d’Estournel 1982 is rich with bouquet garni, liquorice, smoked game, oodles of black fruit and more exotic spices than Madhur Jaffrey’s kitchen. Open this only with food and company worthy of it.

Famed for its exotic architecture adorned with pagodas and Indian influences, Cos d’Estournel is – despite only being ranked as a Deuxième Cru Classé in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855 – “a wine of First Growth quality” according to esteemed wine critic Robert Parker. This vintage certainly supports that view.
