Robert Parker has awarded this wine 98 points on four separate occasions and 97 points on two others.
Positioned on Pomerol’s legendary clay knoll - amidst the likes of Pétrus Vieux-Château-Certan and l’Evangile - La Conseillante is only a stone’s throw away from Saint-Emilion making it an almost perfect hybrid between the Right Bank’s two most famous regions. Terroir doesn’t get much better than this. And they have certainly had time to perfect the art of what to do with it; the Nicolas family have been making wine here since they bought it in 1871.
Smooth as silk and pure as morning dew the nose evokes Grand Cru Burgundy. Cherry liqueur chocolates hedgerow blackberries wild mushrooms cooked in Chinese five-spice truffles iron filings quality gravy and ripe plums this is a wine you could pick apart for days. Open 45 minutes before you want to drink it allowing it time to unfurl handsomely.
