91 points “Very pale apricot colour with aromas of peaches sliced apples jasmine wet stones and watermelon. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and succulent layers of ripe fruit. Juicy and packed with flavour yet fresh and elegant. From organically grown grapes.” – James Suckling

Although famous names like Whispering Angel and Château Miraval steal the limelight those who are truly in the know are quietly stocking up on Château La Mascaronne…

Hailing from a continuous sixty-hectare vineyard in Le Luc en Provence surrounded by oak and olive trees this is an under-the-radar rosé with immense pedigree. The experts at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate advise that “this organic producer clearly merits more attention” and when you start to dig it really is an intriguing story. The estate’s previous owner was Tom Bove the man who built up Château Miraval before selling it to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Establishing it as one of the finest producers of rosé in Côtes de Provence he then sold it to Michel Reybier the owner of Saint-Estèphe’s legendary Château Cos d’Estournel and the luxury hotel brand La Réserve. This is a move that is sure to pique the curiosity of fine wine aficionados everywhere.

Château La Mascaronne Organic Rosé 2021 is the second vintage with Michel Reybier at the helm continuing with that dashing new look bottle and the dropping of the slightly clunky Quat'Saisons name. Once again it’s nothing short of a revelation. This energetic blend of Grenache Cinsault Syrah and Vermentino buzzes with intense white peach lemon pink grapefruit redcurrant garden herbs cranberry wild strawberry creamy white chocolate and sophisticated Riviera vibes. Rather unusually for Provence rosé it also ages exceptionally well. But in reality we won’t be able to fight the temptation to drink it all this summer.
