Grand Vin Pauillac 1996 - Chateau Latour

Chateau Latour

Grand Vin Pauillac 1996

99 points, “This beauty is going to go on and on.” – Wine Advocate

This wine has been described as “as good as it gets” and as having an “epically long finish” by the experts at Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate.

Château Latour – which has been described by Neal Martin as “a supernova around which others orbit” – is the classic First Growth and 1996 was one of its finest vintages, making this a must-have wine for any serious collector.

A wine that received enormous hype – partly due to the new management and vat rooms, but also because of the extraordinary quality of the vintage – and it very much lived up to it. The ‘96 Latour is a stunning experience; the kind of wine that it takes control to prevent yourself from inhaling suddenly at its breath-taking beauty. Cassis from the late-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon mingles with plum jam, blackberry, graphite, aged game, roasted nuts, black olive, exotic spices, dried herbs and black truffle. That meaty, lingering finish feels like it will never truly loosen its grip on your taste buds. The powerful and stylish Château Latour 1996 would be the crowning glory in any collection.
