Grand Vin Pauillac 2009 - Château Lynch-Bages

Château Lynch-Bages

Grand Vin Pauillac 2009

“A monument of a wine.” – Jancis Robinson

Pauillac Château Lynch-Bages offers a price to quality ratio that’s seriously hard to beat, especially considering that the world’s most powerful wine critic, Robert Parker, called the 2009 “exquisite” and awarded it an enormous 98 points.

Probably one of the top buys of the 2009 vintage, Lynch-Bages is deeply savoury with concentrated cassis, blueberries, dark chocolate, fig, smoke and tight cedar. On tasting this blind, wine critic Neal Martin thought it might have been Mouton-Rothschild, which – considering the difference in price – is quite the compliment. Snap this up before it sells out.

Don’t be fooled by Lynch-Bages Cinquième Grand Cru Classé status, as Jancis Robinson notes: “If any Château’s positioning in the… 1855 classification highlights just quite how outdated it is then Lynch-Bages… would be the one. Rated a 5th growth in 1855, it has been for the last few decades a definite Super Second.”
