La Réserve de Malartic Pessac-Léognan 2015
92 points, “Striking violets and blueberries here. Some leafy notes, too. The palate adds some light, creamy oak, tastes of summer-berry pudding and supple tannins to close.” – James Suckling
90 points, “This has a lovely gourmet touch with caramel edging, and if you're looking for a wine to drink soon, this is the one to go for.” – Jane Anson, Decanter
According to Wine Advocate, quality has “soared to exceptional heights” at Château Malartic-Lagravière – which is under the ownership of the Belgian Bonnie family and receives consultation from the legendary Michel Rolland – over the last decade. And the standard of this – their second wine – is certainly proof of that. Having spent 15 months in French oak, La Réserve de Malartic is brimming with energy, red berries, brambles, cassis, plum crumble, dried herbs, sandalwood and freshly sharpened pencils. Fruity and inviting, we cannot recommend this highly enough to accompany rich and slow-cooked dishes, Sunday roasts, wild mushrooms and tomato sauces.
2015 was a fabulous vintage in Bordeaux. Respected critic and Master of Wine Jeannie Cho Lee went as far as to “compare it to 2005 and 2009 in quality”, Decanter Magazine noted that “several châteaux have arguably made the best ever wines”, and Steven Spurrier announced that “Bordeaux is back.” Wines from this vintage are simply not to be missed.£4 per 100.00ml
