Citadelle Jardin d’Été Gin is crafted at Château de Bonbonnet home to Ferrand Cognac and Plantation Rum and is inspired by the experience of strolling through the château’s garden in the height of summer. The intoxicatingly aromatic and vibrant garden is the passion project of Debbie Gabriel wife of Master Distiller Alexandre Gabriel. The gin made in its image contains a whopping 22 different aromatics and botanicals including French juniper Sichuan peppercorns Charentais melon flesh yuzu zest Mexican orange peel whole lemons Moroccan coriander Chinese liquorice fennel savoury violets irises almonds and many more. Although a global fusion of ingredients what they’ve captured is a sensory postcard of a French garden in summertime. Sweet-smelling flowers fragrant ripe fruit and buzzing spices; every sip conjures verdant foliage bees flitting through the blooms and blossom blue skies warm sunshine good times and melon juice dribbling down your chin. Make your next gin and tonic with Citadelle Jardin d’Été and take it out into the garden.
What’s so exciting about the gins from Citadelle is the ambition. The grounds of the château are being rapidly planted with more and more juniper allowing the team to impart an increasing sense of terroir into each bottle. And that has seen them pick up more than 60 medals since the launch of their original gin in 1996.
