In 1838 two wine merchants based in Ay decided to find a maison Champagne. William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann set out to buy top quality plots in the region and started making wine. Their technical expertise and knowledge of markets was instrumental in developing the firm internationally. By the beginning of the 19th century, Deutz had already earned a reputation for quality that still accompanies the maison to this day.

Deutz Brut Classic is the most classical of expression of the house. The blend, a third of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier, is unchanged through the years and gives the wine a perfect harmony.
