Crowned World's Best London Dry Gin at the World Gin Awards 2019.
To create Dingle Original Gin, local County Kerry flora are macerated for 24 hours and then distilled through a swan neck copper pot still. Although a fiercely guarded secret, Harvey Nichols believes the botanicals includes foraged rowan berries, heather, fuchsia, bog myrtle, chervil, hawthorn and angelica root. It’s then cut to 42.5% using pure water from the well 240 feet beneath the distillery. The result is as smooth and intricately patterned as marble; fantastically floral with a refreshing mint, lemon and cucumber flavour, spiced with cherries, berries, Earl Grey, aniseed balls and peppercorns. No wonder it collected Ireland’s Best London Dry gin at the World Gin Awards so quickly after the distillery was established.
The artisan Dingle Distillery in County Kerry isn’t looking to forge a megabrand, mass produce, create spirits for others or take over the world. What they’d like to do is revive the tradition of boutique independent distilling in Ireland and promote the betterment of their colourful home. Established by the founders of the Porterhouse Brewing Company, who have been pioneering craft beer since 1996, their new venture is the talk of the town and soon the whole world will notice.
