Sauvignon Blanc 2018 - Dog Point

Dog Point

Sauvignon Blanc 2018

“Very accomplished and intense.” – Jancis Robinson

Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc is where Sancerre meets a tropical fruit salad. Racy with Loire-ish cream, lemon pith, chalk and struck-match, which then erupts into a fruit cocktail of guava, passion fruit, pineapple and nectarine. This has absolutely everything in spades.

Marlborough’s Dog Point is owned by winemakers James Healy and Ivan Sutherland – both former Cloudy Bay employees – and their partners Wendy and Margaret. The two bonded while working at New Zealand’s most famous winery and decided to get a bit more ‘hands-on’ by branching out on their own. The team love Burgundy and are highly influenced by the great region, they’ve also moved their entire operation under the Biogro programme making all their farming organic. Dog Point takes its name from the name given to the area by the shepherds of the first European settlements, whose dogs wandered off or became lost in the tussocks and rolling hills. In a relatively short time, it has become one of New Zealand’s finest and most sought-after wine producers.
