Tasting Notes
“A seriously good example of 2016’s charms.” – Jancis Robinson
Due to frosts and hail 2016 is a hard vintage to find. However, the quality of what remained from this decimated year was outstanding, because the vines concentrated all their goodness into so few grapes. Anne Sigaut believes that these old vines in Les Bussières should be a Premier Cru, and having tasted it on many occasions, we’d have to agree.
Full-bodied, rich and complex, Domaine Anne & Hervé Sigaut’s Chambolle-Musigny Les Bussières Vieilles Vignes 2016 sings of chalk, black pepper, roses, mint, plum, blackcurrant, red cherry and gentle spices. Think game with prunes, truffle pasta, slow-cooked wild mushrooms or tagines.
Anne and Hervé Sigaut have been quietly making exceptional wines since 1990. Those in Pinot Noir’s inner circle have known this for some time. But the cat is now well and truly out of the bag and demand is ramping up, especially for wines as rare as this one.
