Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg 2016 - Domaine Huet

Domaine Huet

Vouvray Sec Clos du Bourg 2016

The Domaine Huet wines estate was founded by Victor Huet in 1928 in the gentle hills overlooking Vouvray village in the Loire Valley. From the beginning it was planted entirely with the Loire’s traditional grape, Chenin Blanc. In 2002, when Gaston Huet passed away at the age of 92, New York businessman Anthony Hwang invested in the winery. His daughter Sarah is now in charge day-to-day but continuity was assured when the Hwang family took over, with Gaston Huet’s son-in-law Noël Pinguet continuing in the role of winemaker, and with his assistant Jean-Bernard Berthomé as chef de cave. The Domaine Huet estate now encompasses 30 hectares and remains fully committed to biodynamic viticulture.

Regarded by many as the top dry cuvee from the producer, Clos de Bourg is renowned to produce wine of wonderful balance and great potential for ageing. The 2016 vintage bursts with aromas of bruised apple, pears, bergamot and a distinctive saline backbone. A seriously classy and fragrant wine perfect to pair with roast chicken, smoked eel and chanterelles mushroom.
