91 points, “The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is very good indeed… layered and nicely concentrated, with mouth-watering acids and a long, well-defined finish.” – Wine Advocate
90 points, “Very fine.” – Vinous
Classic Chassagne-Montrachet. Crystal clear, it opens with notes of baked apple, toffee, blossom and honeysuckle, before leading onto pear, honey-caramelised nuts, lime sorbet and white pepper. Every moment is a joy from first nose to that immense finish. Think lobster, langoustines, creamy sauces with a squeeze of citrus, Sunday roasts or Christmas Day.
With respected critics such as Jasper Morris reporting that 2017 is “a delicious vintage for white Burgundy”, Allen Meadows saying that “the 2017s deserve a place in your cellars”, and Neal Martin calling it a “modern classic vintage” with some “quite brilliant whites”; this is a vintage you need to be all over.
Saint Aubin used to be off the beaten track, but now it’s fast-becoming hot property in Burgundy. Here you’ll find Joseph Colin, son of Marc Colin who was one of the early pioneers in this area. In 2016 Joseph left the family business to branch out on his own, taking with him some plots in incredible locations including Chassagne-Montrachet. 2017 is his first full vintage and with a wealth of experience and confidence, he looks like one of Burgundy’s bright young sparks to watch. But don’t just take our word for it, Wine Advocate “encourage readers to acquaint themselves with his wines” too.£8 per 100.00ml
