Chambolle Musigny 2015
This Chambolle Musigny has the power and precision of a Premier Cru. Dark and brooding with a richness and structure befitting of such a great vintage. The ripe fruit flavours have a pinch of spice and sea salt, leading on to a gloriously creamy and toasty finish. Having picked up a Silver Medal from the International Wine Challenge, who called it “delicious”, this would be an exceptional choice for pairing with game, crispy pork belly, wild mushrooms or truffles.
Michel Gros was awarded the International Wine Challenge’s Red Winemaker of the Year, not once, but twice. Considering the number of people making red wine throughout the world, that’s a considerable feat. But not a surprising one considering that he’s the sixth generation of a Burgundian winemaking dynasty, and his sister, brother and cousin all run well-respected wineries under the name Gros.
A go-to producer for wine critics; Neal Martin says: “I feel that I have been visiting Michel Gros in Vosne since I was a child. He was one of the first growers to show me what a barrel cellar looks like and I’ve been enjoying his wines since the late 1990s.” Considering how good 2015 was for red Burgundy, this wine is one to snap up.
