Rully Les Chaponnières 2016
“Fills the palate and with polished tannins. Very sophisticated. Lovely glass of wine with freshness and quite enough ripe fruit, and so long.” – Jancis Robinson
Rully Les Chaponnières 2016 really impressed wine critic Jancis Robinson, who ranked it as a “VVGV” wine, a step above and beyond the usual “very good value”.
Highly respected winemaker Paul Jacqueson is gradually handing over the reins of this domaine to his daughter Marie, a future superstar who has already been named Young Winemaker of the Year by the Hospices de Beaune. Based in Rully – opposite the town’s dojo interestingly – their wines rival many of those produced by their more expensive neighbours on the Côte d’Or.
This Burgundy vineyard was planted in 1985, so the 30-year-old vines are producing rich and concentrated grapes. Silky smooth and brimming with hedgerow fruit, this Pinot Noir is seriously overperforming for its price.£3.33 per 100.00ml
