“No Muscadet estate is rendering consistently finer or more intriguing wines than Luneau-Papin, and given the prices asked there is no excuse for any lover of wine not making their acquaintance.” – Wine Advocate

Created by Pierre Luneau at Domaine du Verger in the Western Loire, this organic Muscadet is bottled summertime. Garance is aged ‘Sur Lie’, meaning that it rests on the fine lees (the spent yeast cells that drop to the bottom of the tank following fermentation) for around four months. This adds a little creaminess, yeastiness and body to the wine, as well as a gentle smokiness on the nose. Pale yellow and buzzing with lime zest, spring blossom, crunchy white peach, steel, lemon sorbet, smoked salt, and the yeastiness of buttered freshly baked bread. It reminds us a little of Chablis without the associated price tag. An exceptional value wine to have in the cellar for seafood, oysters, summer salads, hummus, mercimek köftesi, deep-fried nibbles or an aperitif with a basket of baguette.
