95 points, “It's already dangerously drinkable and buzzes with life. Really top stuff, with a lightness of touch and elegance that some others lack this year.” – Decanter Magazine
This is one of our standouts from the 2016 vintage in the Rhône Valley. Domaine Raspail-Ay’s Gigondas is very traditional – it’s aged for two years in old oak barrels and bottled unfiltered and unfined making it vegan friendly – and comes from 18 hectares of old vines surrounding the Ay family home. To drink it conjures up thoughts of eating plum crumble, damson pie, Black Forest gateau and summer pudding in a wood of pine and cedar trees, before stumbling home through a herb patch full of basil, rosemary and mint. It’s the kind of wine that leaves your head spinning. Serve this alongside a Sunday roast, haggis, game or vegetables roasted with rosemary and lashings of black pepper. But don't be in too much of a rush, because this has a long life ahead of it.£3.67 per 100.00ml
