Riesling Turkheim 2018

Tasting Notes
Riesling Turckheim comes from the vineyards that surround the winery at Domaine Zind Humbrecht. The soil warms up quickly here and drains away water very efficiently; in the warm 2018 vintage this resulted in an aromatic style with an approachable acidity. This delicate Riesling has an almost lace-like quality, as if woven from thin strands of Granny Smith apple, lemon sorbet, orchard blossom, white peach and morning dew. Consider pairing it with fresh and spicy dishes, for example Vietnamese summer rolls, crunchy salads, homemade salsas and white fish baked with curry spices.
The Humbrecht family can trace their illustrious winemaking roots back to the early 1600s, with this family-run business proudly passing from father to son for 400 years. We hope that the mothers and daughters will also get a look in during the 21st Century. Today, Domaine Zind Humbrecht cultivate 45 hectares in the Haut-Rhin area of Alsace, snuggled within the foothills of the Vosges mountains and dotted with little gingerbread towns. Under the leadership of the Master of Wine, Olivier Humbrecht, they’ve gone down a natural and traditional route, focusing on maturation in big oval barrels, becoming organic and biodynamic certified, and even ploughing their vineyards using a horse. As a result, the wines are Alsace classics that absolutely sing of their terroir.
