Dow’s Senhora da Ribeira 2019 is a single-vineyard blend with an unusually high proportion of Sousão this year. Exceptionally aromatic with opulent notes of blackcurrant blackberry violet and plum on the nose this vintage has a core of powerful black-fruit flavours and rich dark chocolate a minty medicinal edge and undertones of thyme crushed rocks rosemary peppery spice and coffee. Powerful but beautifully balanced with fresh acidity spice and ripe but firm tannins. This is built to age but it’s hard to keep your hands off it especially when paired with chocolate desserts and punchy blue cheeses like creamy Stilton or Roquefort.
