Aguijón de Abeja Bonarda 2017
Old vine Bonarda from Fiambalá in Catamarca in the North of Argentina. Aguijón de Abeja is a celebration of the worker bees that help out in the vineyard, but despite what the name suggests, there’s no sting in the tail with this one.
Bonarda is one of Argentina’s most exciting but less talked about grape varieties. These vines were planted in pergolas in 1938, and they produce grapes bursting with blackberry, blackcurrant and black cherry flavours. This is one of those go-to everyday wines that will go with everything from summer barbeques to a hearty bowl of pasta on a cold winter evening.
Durigutti is a family winery set up by two strapping brothers Héctor and Pablo, who are Mendoza born and bred. Located in the heart to Lujan de Cuyo, seen by many as Argentina’s finest winemaking area, they produce Argentine classics like Malbec and Torrontes, but also some of the country’s most innovative and thrilling wines.
