Paolozzi Vino 2019 750ml
Edinburgh Beer Factory’s classic Helles Lager has won three consecutive World Beer Awards for Best Helles Style Lager in the UK. But Paolozzi Vino takes that incredible beer to another level. Aged for 12 weeks in a combination of dry and sweet wine white wine barrels from Burgundy, it takes on an almost glowing apricot colour, more richness than we’ve ever tasted from a lager before, oaky sweetness and notes of sultanas, raisins, gooseberry crumble, barrel funk, grapefruit and lemon sherbet. Natural wine meets one of the world’s greatest lagers; this is a beer that you can open up and share over a meal, just as you would a bottle of vino.
Edinburgh Beer Factory is family-run, independently owned and heavily inspired by Scotland’s capital and the ethos of artist Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi. Their modus operandi is to inject the city’s inventiveness, open-mindedness and playfulness into beer. Utilising the flow of talented brewers from Heriot-Watt Universities Brewing and Distilling courses, they are doing just that.
Born in Leith and educated in Edinburgh and London, Sir Eduardo Luigi Paolozzi was a pioneer of pop art. His colourful mosaics line the walls of Tottenham Court Road tube station, his iconic sculptures stand proudly outside the British Library, to the west of the Princess of Wales Conservatory in Kew Gardens and at Shad Thames overlooking Tower Bridge, and the Tate Galleries – among many others - are home to hundreds of his collages, screenprints, writings and sculptures. Paolozzi sought out the “sublime in the everyday”, combining the old and the new to create something exciting and precious. Edinburgh Beer Factory apply this principle in their brewing to stunning effect.£2.6 per 100.00ml
