Seven Springs Pinot Noir 2015
93 points, “Subtly powerful and rich.” – Wine Spectator
The biodynamic Evening Land Vineyards, based in the USA’s Willamette Valley, is another excellent collaboration between one of the world’s most celebrated sommeliers Rajat Parr and Piedrasassi winemaker Sashi Moorman. The two bonded over a shared love of elegant European style wines and went on to create Sandhi and Domaine de la Côte in California. Now they’ve branched out into the beautiful rolling countryside of Oregon. The Seven Springs Vineyard in Eola-Amity Hills was planted in 1984 with a little help from the legendary Dominique Lafon. Protected by a forest of Douglas fir trees and cooled by Pacific air blowing up the Van Duzer corridor, it’s widely regarded as being one of the finest spots in the entire region. This estate Pinot Noir comes from the oldest vines planted on their own rootstock and is aged in 30% new French oak for 16 months. Bottled without filtering or fining, this velvety wine undulates with plum, cranberry, black cherry, cinnamon, liquorice and forest floor. It makes a stunning match for anything roasted with lots of rosemary, seared duck breast or Lebanese dishes.
