Bujet Langhe Chardonnay 2018 - Franco Conterno

Franco Conterno

Bujet Langhe Chardonnay 2018

Langhe, the name given to the hills around the city of Alba in Piedmont, is famed for producing the famous Barolo and Barbaresco, but there’s also a wonderfully innovative side to the region. This Chardonnay, from a small vineyard called Bujet in Monforte d’Alba, is a perfect case in point. It was aged in steel tanks for four months, so there’s no oak to overwhelm its fruit. The result is velvety and intense with lots of exotic tropical notes and crisp citrus. Sunbeams and summertime vibes seem to emanate as soon as you twist of that screwcap. We’ve bag fans of this with fruity curries, fish dishes, Baja tacos and big, crunchy salads.

In the hamlet of Bussia di Monforte d’Alba, you’ll discover Cascina Sciulun – a historic Piedmont farmhouse and home to the Conterno family. Pietro Conterno planted their first Nebbiolo, before passing the business to Giacomo, who in turn handed it on to Franco and his two sons Daniele and Andrea. The vegan-friendly wines that they create, which have been certified organic since 2015, are world-class reflections of the area’s exceptional terroir.
