Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrées 2015
Gevrey-Chambertin is the finest village in the Côte de Nuits. Les Seuvrées is an excellent plot just over the road from the Grands Crus Mazoyeres-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin, sitting on the border between the villages of Gevrey and Morey. In the hands of the dynamic Frédéric Magnien, this vineyard produced a rich organic wine in 2015, and one that displays all fruit and vibrancy of the vintage. It’s velvety red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry fruit makes it a wonderful red for warmer weather or for pairing with pink duck breast or fresh tomato sauces.
Winemaker Frédéric Magnien is a magician of the Côte d'Or. The fifth generation of his family to make wine in this region, he dedicated himself to his father’s business in Morey-Saint-Denis, before travelling the world to gain experience in California and Australia. On his return he obtained a degree in oenology from the University of Bourgogne and decided to set up a business in his own name. As a négociant, he selects old vine plots from trusted growers. Always hunting for higher and higher quality has led him down a path of organic viticulture and biodynamic rhythms in winemaking, and the quality of his wines has never been higher. He has recently started using partly oak-aged wines and partly amphora-aged wines within his blends, this mixture prevents the oak overshadowing the terroir character, making them particularly interesting to Burgundy connoisseurs.£8.67 per 100.00ml
