Complex, smooth and deeply seductive. Dule Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva tastes like a Super Tuscan without the extortionate price tag. In this area of Sardinia, the roots must dig deep through decomposed granite to get to water, so old vines are a must if you are to make great wine. Dule comes from a single vineyard of 45-year-old vines and is therefore one of the island’s finest wines. It’s a gorgeous exploration of hedgerows, blackberries, sloes, rhubarb, Turkish delight, marzipan, bay leaves, cherry liqueur chocolates and spice from its year in French oak. We're in love.

This estate has been passed down from generation to generation. Giuseppe Gabbas is now at the helm and has built a well-deserved reputation as one of Sardinia’s finest winemakers. Although the island is generally hot and dry, Gabbas is located in the Locoe Valley and benefits from a little air conditioning provided by cool breezes off the sea and the Supramonte mountain. The vineyards are tended using very little by way of pesticides, preferring traditional methods and letting nature do its thing.
