Barolo Cerretta 2013 - Giacomo Conterno

Giacomo Conterno

Barolo Cerretta 2013

97+ points, “The 2013 Cerretta is stunningly beautiful in every way. Don't miss it.” – Antonio Galloni

An exuberantly fruity vintage, this Barolo clearly impressed the world’s leading wine critics. Headily aromatic, there’s juicy cherry and blackberry, roses, menthol, tar, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, and rolling tobacco. Roberto Conterno bought this site in 2008, and this is probably the finest wine he has made from it to date. Decant, serve with truffles, game or wild mushrooms, and prepare yourself to be mesmerised.

Probably Piedmont’s finest producer and there can be no better proponent of ‘traditional’ Barolo than Giacomo Conterno. The winery has passed from Giacomo to Giovanni and now resides in the hands of Roberto. According to Robert Parker: “While Conterno’s wines have often been profound, in recent vintages the estate has found another level of finesse.” So, if you haven’t yet tried them, now is the time.
