Glass Collection Cabernet Franc 2016
May de Lencquesaing used to own Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande in Bordeaux. So she knew what she was doing when she bought part of the farm granted to Simon van der Stel – the founder of Stellenbosch and widely regarded as the father of South African wine. There – at the age of 73 – she created Glenelly Estate, simply because she wanted a new adventure. She’s an inspiration to us all.
Cabernet Sauvignon is now the most widely planted grape variety on the planet. It’s a cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, so you could say that Cabernet Franc is the daddy of all the red varieties. Grown high on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, The Glass Collection Cabernet Franc is a perfect example of this wonderful grape; rich with concentrated cherry, cranberry, bell pepper, paprika, graphite and freshly cut grass and herbs. We love it served with a rich goulash, sausages, or a bean casserole. It was also awarded 91 points by Master of Wine Tim Atkin and by Vinous' Neal Martin. And it’s vegan friendly to boot.£2 per 100.00ml
