Tasting Notes
94 points, “Wild rose, perfumed berries, Mediterranean brush and graphite are just some of the aromas you'll find in this elegant, fragrant red. Radiant and loaded with finesse and mineral tension, the palate delivers juicy strawberry, red cherry, star anise and wild herbs framed by taut, refined tannins. Saline notes and racy acidity keep it energised.” – Wine Enthusiast
Alberto Graci is an ex-banker from Milan who has been making wine at his family’s winery in Sicily for almost 20 years. Located on north slope of Mount Etna at Passopisciaro, Graci is a traditional producer focussing on indigenous grape varieties, organic farming methods, old bush vines, precision, and finesse. Although there is much excitement in fine wine circles about his venture with Angelo Gaja, called IDDA, his classic range is also spectacular.
This Etna Rosso is made from organically grown Nerello Mascalese; both the region and the grape are very much en vogue at present. Elegant and crunchy, it displays notes of plum crumble, dried cherry, wild strawberry, sage, rose petal, sea salt, Negroni-like spices and blood orange. A gorgeous wine to serve at any time, but particularly with sauces and dishes made using fresh tomatoes. Grazie Graci!
