Marlborough Pinot Noir 2016
£17.50
Tasting Notes
The image on the front of this Pinot Noir from Harvey Nichols shows a Fantail, a common sight around the vineyards and gardens of New Zealand’s South Island where this wine is made. Blended from grapes hand-harvested from four different cool climate sites around Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, the 2014 Pinot Noir is matured for 10 months in new and seasoned French barriques and then bottled under screwcap to preserve freshness, flavour and integrity.
Aromas of red cherry, cranberry with hints of spice and savoury notes lead to a compote of summer berry flavours with suggestions of charred oak and savoury characteristics all supported with fine, silky tannins. Immediately approachable, this wine should improve over the next two to three years and is best partnered with game, duck or fleshier fish dishes such as salmon and tuna.
