The case opens with a stunning white made by Françoise Feuillat-Juillot in what critics have called “a delicious vintage for white Burgundy” that deserves a place in your cellar. Blended from old vines in six different Montagny Premiers Crus, it’s “supple and creamy with stylish oak” according to Master of Wine, Tim Atkin. Alongside that we have a rare Chambolle-Musigny (only seven barrels were made) with black fruit, spices, dried herbs, pepper and a lovely bit of bottle age on it; plus knowing about Anne and Hervé Sigaut’s wines is an induction into Pinot Noir’s inner circle. And last in the trio comes from a winemaker who, in the words of Wine Advocate, “produces some the very best red wines in Mercurey – and in all the Côte Chalonnaise.” François Raquillet is a keen golfer and the eleventh-generation winemaker in his family lineage, and his Mercurey Rouge Vieilles Vignes has been applauded for its value by leading critics. Tangy cherry, exotic spices and a gorgeous creamy texture; it’s probably one to stock up on.
