Sauternes 2015 Half Bottle 375ml
Produced at the venerable Château Coutet in Barsac, this sensational Sauternes really is nectar from the gods. Heavenly hints of honey and acacia and touches of candied fruit make it divine as a chilled aperitif and perfect with puddings.
Château Coutet is one of the Classified First Growths of 1855 and one of the oldest estates in the Barsac appellation of Bordeaux. Local geography, climate and years of tradition combine to produce this handcrafted “golden wine”.
Part of our limited-edition Premium Range, this wine is a blend of Semillon (75%), Sauvignon Blanc (23%) and Muscadelle (2%) grapes which are painstakingly harvested and sorted by hand (the grapes go through six sortings) and then fermented and aged in French oak barrels (half of which are new) for 18 months. This 2015 vintage expression displays aromas of acacia flowers, lemon, orange, pear and honey, with a refreshing and vibrant core characterised by further notes of citrus, apricot, white peach, quince, gingerbread, candied fruit and a discrete touch of smoky oak. Serve chilled and consider pairing with Asian-inspired cuisine, big cheeseboards, fruit-based desserts or even rich pâtés.
2015 was one of the driest and sunniest years for 50 years in Barsac, so this will be a highly sought-after vintage. 2005 and 2009 are the only vintages that Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate have rated more highly in the last 30 years, and Jancis Robinson assessment of the 2015 vintage is that: “Quality looks to be very good indeed.” The wine critics have heaped praise upon Château Coutet’s 2015 wines, making the Harvey Nichols Sauternes even more desirable. But be quick, because we only created a limited run of around 2,000 half bottles.
