Stellenbosch wine maestro Adam Mason has worked his magic composing this ensemble of six big wine varieties. As deep crimson and unforgettable as a South African sunset this medium-bodied masterpiece is perfect with grilled meat. Light the braai and get pouring.

The Stellenbosch HN Ensemble is made exclusively for Harvey Nichols by DeMorgenzon whose name is literally translated as ‘the morning sun’. Their vineyards are full of wildflowers giving the estate more the feel of botanic garden than a working farm. DeMorgenzon also play baroque and early classical music to their growing vines as they enjoy it themselves and numerous studies have suggested that it can help fruit production and root growth. This is a standout winery whose carefully orchestrated wines make sweet music in the glass.

DeMorgenzon’s talented new winemaker Adam Mason brings a fresh outlook and bags of experience to the team including an eight-year stint making the legendary Vin de Constance at Klein Constantia and a short spell at Mulderbosch Vineyards. In HN Ensemble he has created a symphony of Malbec Merlot Petit Verdot Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah (known as Durif). The grapes are fermented with natural yeasts and then aged in French oak before being bottled. The result is a classically styled blend with a deep crimson colour and rich aromas of red berry fruits with hints of Provençal herbs. Soft and silky on the palate this medium-bodied red exhibits notes of cassis black cherry and spice supported by fine tannins and leading to a long and satisfying finish. This elegant cuvée is beautiful to drink now and will continue to age gracefully over the next six years and beyond. Enjoy in true Stellenbosch style with a barbeque and fitting musical accompaniment.
