Pecorino 2020

There’s nothing sheepish about this refreshing, fragrant white from the organic Merlettaie vineyard, high above the Adriatic coast of Italy. Its lemony, peachy flavours are perfect with antipasti and seafood or alone as an aperitivo. Cin Cin.

Grown at altitude, this recently rediscovered low-yielding Harvey Nichols Pecorino has been rescued from extinction by a dedicated group of local winemakers. Made exclusively from fruit grown on organic vineyards at the charmingly named Cìu Cìu estate, the grapes are hand-harvested and naturally fermented in medium-sized oak barrels, with an additional six months resting on the lees to impart rich complexity and texture.

This stunning white exhibits delicate aromas of jasmine and lemon blossom, with flavours suggestive of ripe peach, apricot, and a hint of spice on the finish. And unlike its cheesy namesake, this Pecorino is completely vegan friendly.
