Small enough to easily fit in the fridge this cute metal bottle contains a single-serving mixture of AquaRiva’s award-winning Tequila Blanco from the Jalisco highlands AquaRiva’s flavoursome single-ingredient agave syrup and a generous squeeze of fresh lime juice. There’s nothing weird no preservatives and no widgets; just a little bit of air in the top so that when you shake it it gets a proper mix. The result is a bar-quality cocktail at home without all that clackety noise and without having to make sure your ice cube trays are full you have all the ingredients and you can find the cocktail shaker. Simply chill it right down shake vigorously for five seconds to aerate and mix then pour the contents into a chilled Martini glass or ice-filled tumbler. Garnish with a lime wedge if you’re feeling fancy.
The Tommy’s Margarita was created in the late 1980s by Julio Bermejo and named after his family’s Yucatán restaurant in San Francisco which is famed for its Mexican food margaritas and extensive Tequila list. Margarita is Spanish for ‘Daisy’ and Daisy cocktails were a style of drink dating back to the Victorian era made by mixing citrus juice with a sweetening syrup or liqueur and a base spirit. So Margaritas are thought to be an agave-based twist on an ancient classic. The highly knowledgeable Julio took the Margarita back to basics ditching the orange liqueur and focussing on the agave flavour. There’s nowhere to hide with a Tommy’s Margarita so the ingredients have to be top quality which is why we opted for Cleo Rocos’ intense spicy and tropical 100% Blue Weber Agave Tequila.
