Growing up with a grandmother who was an artist and great grandmothers who were seamstresses, it’s safe to say that creativity runs deep in Emilie Helmstedt’s veins. So, it’s no surprise that in 2017, the Creative Director founded her eponymous label where she combined her love for fashion with her experience from art school to create whimsical pieces that don’t follow trends but instead dissolve the space between “illusion and reality’’. In a bid to move towards sustainably focused practices, the Copenhagen-based brand uses organic cotton and eco-conscious yarns as much as possible, while each garment is hand-painted by the founder, with an emphasis placed on visible brushstrokes and oil colours.
