Kakubin Shirofuda Black Japanese Whisky - House of Suntory

House of Suntory

Kakubin Shirofuda Black Japanese Whisky

Produced at Suntory’s historic distillery, Shirofuda, Japan’s first genuine whisky, was introduced in 1929. After further refinements to suit the discriminating market of Japan, Kakubin (square bottle) was born in 1937. The modern day range consists of three styles; Black, White and Yellow, and is characterised stylistically by a light, sweet aroma with a crisp finish, which differentiates it from other whiskies. By blending a wide variety of different whiskies, Suntory succeeded in making a delicate whisky with balance and versatility. Kakubin Black offers a broad nose with subtle hints of almond, honey and smoke, whilst the palate is rich and round with perfect balance and layered complexity. Rarely encountered in the UK, as you would expect from Suntory, the quality is high.
