Garden Gully Riesling 2015

Started in 2003 by the former Ridge winemaker Gary Mills, Jamsheed is a boutique Australian winery producing a range of exceptional cool climate wines in the Victoria region. Jamsheed is recognised as one of Australia’s fastest emerging names, producing wines that balance power and finesse whilst possessing a unique sense of regionality.

The vegan-friendly Jamsheed Garden Gully Riesling is made from handpicked grapes grown in the Garden Gully vineyard in Western Victoria. Dating back to 1890, the vines here are incredibly low-yielding and produce intensely flavoured high acid fruit that impart a structure and intensity to this wine. Fermented using indigenous yeasts and aged for 8 months on lees, the final wine is stabilised, filtered and bottled with a small amount of residual sugar. Floral and scented on the nose, youthful aromas of jasmine, yellow rose, honey and tangerine are suggested. Fleshy, ripe and delicately sweet in the mouth, flavours of lemon pie, poached pear, minerals and toast come to the fore, culminating in a lingering and intense finish. This superb example of Australian Riesling can be enjoyed on its own or with a variety of seafood dishes. With a little bottle age, it’s now developing stunning petrol and smoke notes.
