Château La Grave Pomerol 2013 - Jean-Pierre Moueix

Jean-Pierre Moueix

Château La Grave Pomerol 2013

This eight hectare plot in Pomerol sits on the same gravelly soils that continue on into Saint-Émilion through Château Cheval Blanc and end at Château Figeac. Originally owned by the Trigant de Boisset family (who are honoured in small print on the label), it was acquired by the Moueix family in the 1970s. This move saw it join an illustrious portfolio including the likes of Château Pétrus, Château Trotanoy and Dominus, giving it some truly impressive pedigree. Though the name has swung back and forth from Château La Grave to Château La Grave á Pomerol during its history, what has remained constant is the elegant, lighter style of this Right Bank Bordeaux. The 2013 shimmers with charming strawberry notes, pipe tobacco, plum crumble, cherry liqueur and something reminiscent of walking through wildflowers into a dark forest. This refined Pomerol makes a glorious match to roast turkey and all the trimmings, pink duck breast or boeuf en croute.
