Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2012
A hot tip from Harvey Nichols. Château La Fleur Pourret is currently an under-the-radar Saint-Émilion Grand Cru. But it won’t remain that way for long when people realise that it’s made by the Manoncourt family, who also make the much-sought-after and legendary Château Figeac. Only around 20,000 bottles are made of this predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Franc blend, so it’s very difficult to come by. Make sure you don’t miss out.
Deeply complex, it’s an intricate masterpiece of berry compote, fresh cherry, violets, jasmine, subtle smoke, roasted red pepper, spices, cedar, cream, leather, tobacco and forest floor. This myriad of flavours is in perfect balance, none one overwhelms another and keeps every sip intriguing. An absolute pleasure with Beef Wellington, roast duck, truffles, wild mushrooms, buttery mash or Christmas dinner.£4.27 per 100.00ml
