The Ian Hunter Story 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky Book 1
Whisky lovers and collectors, take note. This is the inaugural release in a new 15-part series from the legendary Laphroaig.
The Ian Hunter Story Book 1 is entitled Unique Character – a reference to not just this world-renowned Scotch’s flavour but also the ambition of the man who made it so. Ian Hunter was the last member of the founding Johnston family to run the distillery in the 1940s. It was he who made the decision to use American oak barrels to mature this Islay icon. So, in honour of him, Laphroaig has created a limited-edition run of 4,800 bottles of a 30 Year Old aged entirely in first-fill Bourbon casks. The bottle comes hidden inside a hardback book, which tells the first part of Ian Hunter’s history and the legacy he left behind in every drop of Laphroaig distilled soon.
It starts like a dessert platter with sweet baked apple laced with cream, crème brûlée and lemon drizzle cake, before moving on to peppery green olives stuffed with lemon peel, blanched almonds and rosemary, and then finishing with Laphroaig’s classic smoky maritime combo redolent of smoke billowing from the chimneys of harbourside cottages in a fishing village. Simply stunning.
Book 1 has already sold out almost everywhere. So, grab it while stocks last. Book 2 is due to hit the market in 2020.£107.14 per 100.00ml
