The Pinot Noir for this wine came from low-yielding vines in the Grand Cru of Verzy, while the 30% Chardonnay was picked from another Grand Cru village, Chouilly. Partially fermented in oak and aged for five years in the bottle, this is everything you would expect from one of the greatest Champagne houses, and more.
Rich, powerful and incredibly energetic, the nose buzzes with redcurrant, mirabelle plum, creamy peach yoghurt, smoke, citrus, peppery gingerbread, citrus zest and dried fruit. The palate of this gastronomic and elegant wine is just as complex, displaying more of the same, plus chocolate, roasted nuts, apricot crumble, piecrust, sea salt and a perfect balance of freshness, concentration and maturity. We love Louis Roederer in every vintage, but this is something very special.
