The Anniversary Collection from Lustau is 125 years of excellence bottled.
Lustau is the only winery of the Jerez - Xérez - Sherry D.O. that has cellars in each of three towns of the Sherry triangle allowing the winery to maximise the potential and diversity of its wines. This means that they are in the unique position to be able to offer rare wines from all three towns which is exactly what they’ve done to celebrate their 125th anniversary.
Highly exclusive the three wines in this gift box have been aged some for several decades under the care of the historic line of Lustau’s cellar masters. Each one has an extra level of complexity to anything you may have tasted from Lustau before. Only 2 500 bottles were made of each wine so this an extremely limited edition. This commemorative and highly giftable collection is a must for any Sherry connoisseur. It contains:
- 1 x Manzanilla Pasada Papirusa Sanlúcar de Barrameda 16% 500ml – This comes from a solera that’s located in the most humid and airy part of the bodega. It was bottled in June 2021 after 8 years of ageing. It’s a never-seen-before version of a Lustau classic. That length of ageing imparts more oxidative flavours than you’ll find in most Manzanilla. So although the expected salty tones and notes of chamomile yeast yellow flowers green apple and almond are all there you’ll also discover honeycomb toasted pine nuts roasted herbs and salted caramel.
- 1 x Amontillado Solera del Castillo El Puerto de Santa Maria 21.5% 500ml – This is the first time Lustau has bottled a wine like this one. Aged biologically (with the flor on the surface) for four years and then oxidatively (without the yeast layer on the top) for 25 years it was finally bottled in June 2021. Expect notes of honey-roasted cashews candied ginger marmalade woody spices salted almonds praline honeycomb and chocolate orange. Intense and extremely complex.
- 1 x 1996 Añada Sherry Jerez de la Frontera 21% 500ml – This unique wine comes from eight individual casks from a singular vintage and it was bottle in June 2021. Añada is a rare vintage Sherry. This one was made in Lustau’s 100th year and then aged in ex-Oloroso casks for 25 years before bottling. It tastes like pecan pie toffee apple walnut baklava polished antique wood juicy liquorice chocolate orange caramel and boozy Christmas cake fruit. An unrepeatable experience.
