Exceptional Single Cask 8167 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Macallan’s Exceptional Single Cask Series was created in 2017 and this was the second of the releases in the following year. Distilled in September 2002, it was filled into a single European Oak Sherry Puncheon. Selected by Sarah Burgees for the range, it was filled into just 627 bottles at a cask strength of 60.1% in May 2018. Launched exclusively through travel retail at Dubai Airport in 2018, this 15 Year Old has become very hard to get hold of and therefore highly collectable. Macallan’s tasting note goes as follows:

• Nose: Green apple, oak, vanilla, pear, cinnamon, very sweet, orange oil.
• Taste: Fresh, creamy, mouth coating, nutty, fruit crumble, spicy, hot ginger, ginger biscuits, banana.
• Finish: Long, dry yet nutty.

“Macallan is the daddy, as far as legendary whiskies go.” So says whisky expert Ian Buxton. This Speyside behemoth enjoys huge global demand, perfectly illustrated by a 30-year-old cask breaking auction records when it sold for $375,000 (US) in Hong Kong. Deservedly so, it remains the aficionado’s choice when it comes to Scotch.

We were only able to get our hands on one bottle of this highly sought after and very collectable bottling, so fans of this illustrious distillery should not delay if they wish to secure it.
