Chassagne-Montrachet 2016 - MICHEL NIELLON

Chassagne-Montrachet 2016

Most definitely a wine to secure and regularly revisit, Michel Niellon’s Chassagne-Montrachet currently displays a tangy concoction of lime, crisp green apple, crunchy pear, exotic melon and toasted oak, but as Wine Advocate predicts - “it will become more unctuous and exotic with bottle age.” However, if you want to get your hands on a bottle, be quick. Niellon was badly hit by frost in 2016, so this wine's availability is extremely scarce.

From a minuscule cellar, Michel Niellon and his family set the benchmark for Chassagne-Montrachet, producing some of the finest wines in the Côte de Beaune. As the estate only encompasses around six to seven hectares of old vines, securing their wines is extremely difficult. However, as one of the earliest pickers in the region, you’re guaranteed to enjoy a refreshing Chardonnay with this fantastic bottle.
