Saffron is the world’s most expensive spice by weight. It takes around 400,000 crocus flowers to make a pound of it. But Mills & Mortar aren’t satisfied with stopping there. They tracked down a little place in La Mancha, Spain, where the locals produce it under the strict Protected Designation of Origin certification. So, this La Rosera D.O.P. Saffron is pretty much the greatest spice on Earth. Infuse it into warm liquid to release world-famous aromas and flavours, then add it to pastries, teas, sauces, risottos, tagines, rice and steamed fish or vegetables.
