Gattinara 2015 375ml - Nervi

Gattinara 2015 375ml

One of our wine buyers described this as the best wine they’d tasted this year.

In 2018, Roberto Conterno – owner of the Barolo legend Giacomo Conterno – bought a 90% stake in Nervi, which should tell you just how good this winery and its prime vineyards in the Gattinara DOCG are. He had been working as a consultant oenologist here and recognised the incredible quality. The 2015 vintage was one that he consulted on and the wines, which were already outstanding, are now clearly destined for stardom.

Nervi is the oldest winery in Gattinara still producing. They didn’t make any of their incredible single vineyard wines in 2015, so all of the best grapes (including those from the top crus Molsino and Valferana) went into this bottling. Having spent around thirty months in oak barrels, this Nebbiolo is already displaying intense red fruit, kirsch, earthy spices, leather, tobacco and beautiful structure. But it’s only going to get better over the next fifteen years. This half bottle provides an opportunity to taste it, while the the full-sized bottle matures in your collection.
