This wine has taken a little time to open, but it’s been well worth the wait. Oddero’s Barolo 2014 unfurls with cherry jam, wild strawberry, dried orange peel, rose petal, truffles and spice. We concur whole heartedly with the experts at Wine Advocate who say: “This is a good value Barolo.”
The grapes have come from excellent terroirs in a UNESCO World Heritage site: Broglio and Baudana in Serralunga d’Alba; Castiglione Rocche Rivera in the Scarrone Cru of Castiglione Falletto; and Rive Santa Maria in La Morra. Aged for 30 months in oak, this is the wine for earthy flavours like beef bourguignon, game, truffles and wild mushrooms.
The Oddero family have been making wine since the 18th Century. Despite being one of the most famous names in Piedmont, it’s still very much a family business that also makes its own honey.£6.67 per 100.00ml
