Pusser’s takes its name from a mispronunciation of ‘purser’ – the ship’s supply officer who would give out the daily tot of rum. Their Guyanese rums are normally made to a recipe very much like the one that would have been served for the last time when the Royal Navy discontinued its daily ration of rum on 31 July 1970. However this is a little different as it has been aged for 15 years in charred oak barrels. The dark amber nectar is smooth polished and brimming with notes of walnut baklava molasses white chocolate caramel truffles Demerara sugar dried papaya orange pineapple pineapple plum and blackberry crumble festive spices and fudge. We genuinely cannot think of a rum of this age and provenance that offers such incredible value for money.
